Slow little week or two. Some big summer movies are coming (Indiana Jones! Mission Impossible!) and some quieter movies have dropped (Past Lives), so my dance card for the next few weeks is filling up, movie-wise. It’s also Summer Camp Season, so Miss Eileen is about to be very tired and very sweaty. Subsequently, I absolutely can’t wait to see the film “Theater Camp” while in the middle of running a Theater Camp. Kismet.
176) TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS* (2023) - Incredible trash. We did the 4DX screening, so I was getting whipped around and punched in the back. It was great. I wish oh I wish the robot ape climbed the empire state building, but I can't get everything I want. Definitely could've used more frickin beasts if you ask me. Anthony Ramos is fine, he's got some dumbface Shia LaBeouf energy. Pete Davidson made me want to claw my skin off my bones. Cringe as the kids say. I cried. This movie is dumb.

177) THE MURDER OF LACI PETERSON~ (2017) - Not me rewatching the same murder documentaries over and over again. This one is very Team Scott and oh no am I on that team??? Well definitely not on the team but oof reasonable doubt!!!!! Very sad, quite grotesque, and a good documentary.

178) AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER~ (2022) - I watched this with my nephew and family over two nights. And oh yeah it rocks. Just gorgeous. Underwater bonanza. There's such an earnestness to this film, but a deft enough touch that it doesn't feel totally cliche. Payakan, you're the best, babe. Fuck em up. James Cameron splashing it up, we love to see it, always.

179) THE FLASH* (2023) - I'm not sure what is happening to me. Maybe because I had a bad day. Maybe I have nary a brain cell left. But I had a good time! I don't know what to tell you!! Maybe I hit my head. I had a very good, stupid time. Michael Keaton good. Supergirl good. Ezra Miller not good person, very bad weirdo, but his very annoying persona sadly works for me here (annoying recognize annoying I guess!). I don't necessarily recommend this movie, but I can't deny that it let me completely turn my brain into mush for a bit.
